Broderick began working in the library industry in 1986. Over the following  years he moved between lending services, cataloguing, AV services, serials accessioning, IT support, reference services, document supply, and collection management, across various public, academic and special libraries. In his current role at the Australian National University Library in Canberra, Broderick works as a collection management/subject librarian.
